Nitrous Oxide (Happy Gas)

At DDS we understand that a trip to the dentist can cause a level of anxiety for some people. Our supportive staff is all here to ensure you have the best possible, pain free experience during your appointment.

Nitrous oxide sedation, also known as “happy gas” or “laughing gas”, can help alleviate your anxiety and allow for a positive, stress free dental appointment. We recommend you attend for either a check up or consultation appointment where we will discuss different ways to minimize your dental anxiety and assess your suitability for the sedation.

Nitrous oxide is a form of inhalation sedation. It allows people to receive their dental treatment in a relaxed environment while still being awake during the whole appointment. A small, comfortable nose mask is in place through which the “happy gas” is delivered. We will ensure you receive a safe dosage that is appropriate for you.  

While receiving the sedation you can expect to feel relaxed, at ease and some people find the experience euphoric and funny, hence the term “laughing gas”. Nitrous Oxide is a safe drug if used correctly and with properly trained staff, all the staff at DDS has received medical emergency training to ensure at all times we ensure your comfort and safety.
